Mary Byrne died on 4 August 2002 in Israel Margaret Kells and her husband Jim told me about Mary's death on the telephone on 5 August 2002 when I was arranging a holiday in Durrow with them. A few weeks before that Margaret visited Mary who was suffering from terminal cancer.

Stessie, Mary's mother and her two brothers Brendan and Gary were able to visit Mary last week but they were all devastated by her death.2
